Amazon Coming to Former Steris Property in Millcreek Township

Monday, January 4th 2021

Amazon plans to bring what it is calling a delivery station to a former industrial building in Millcreek Township, the company told Erie News Now Monday.

It will be located the former AMSCO-Steris property on W. 23rd St. The company said the facility will “power the last mile of our order fulfillment process and help speed up deliveries for customers.”

Chris Groner at the Erie County Redevelopment Authority said this is a project that he has been working on for months. It was a collaboration between city, county and Milllcreek Township officials.

Amazon was looking for a quick turnaround to create both warehouse and distribution for what Groner called “last mile” delivery. The existing Steris property was ideal.

According to a zoning permit from Millcreek Township, Amazon plans to invest more than $5 million in the property. The zoning and building permits were sought in October.

Local officials working on the deal kept it quiet until Erie News Now began making inquiries. They wanted to be sure Amazon was ready to release information. Click here to read full article.
